The Transit Cart was designed specifically for moving 368 linear filing inches or 15 conventional file drawers of records (files, binders and books). A professional heavy duty large volume records cart designed to easily carry 810 lbs of records. What makes this unit different? Let�s start from the ground up and look at the engineering in this cart. Supported by 4 Phenolic 6"H x 2"W, non-marking double ball bearing swivel casters with a grease cerk, 5/8" swivel kingpin, a 1/2" axle, and a 1/4" steel mounting plate capable of supporting 4,800 lbs. Above the wheels the base structure is a welded 4"W x 2"H 11 gauge tubular steel framework base with 2"x2" steel angle stock for reinforcement. Designed above the steel base, the end panels, base and top are constructed of 3/4" plywood with an HPL laminate for durability. The intermediate shelves and center panel are manufactured with 3/4" industrial particleboard with an LPL cover. Vertical and horizontal components are secured by high quality Hafele connecting brackets. Shelves are tilted back 5 degrees to provide security for transporting materials. To facilitate moving and control of the unit a large stainless steel handle (24" x 1.5", rated for 900lbs of pressure) is mounted on each end of the unit for operation by 2 people.
